Unable to ping the vm's from the host machine

HI Team,

I'm running a Rhel 6 on my machine and i have installed a vmware workstation on it,

created 2 esx 5i servers & 1 2003,2008,rhel 6 servers separately i'm able to ping the servers that are built in vmware workstation but i'm not able to ping those with the host machine.

host ip : 192.168.8.2

vmware esx : 192.168.8.20 and for the rest of the machines they are in a sequence

the network connection is NAT settings.

please can any one help me out or explain me the procedure to resolve this issue.

Regards,
Navin

Hi Team,

HOST MACHINE MEANS THE BASE ON WHICH VMWARE WORKSTATION IS RUNNING ON.

Base Machine = REDHAT LINUX 6.2 ( IP # 192.168.8.2 )

Virtual Machines (Guests) - ESXi5,Windows 2003,2008 servers (IP #'s 192.168.8.13,192.168.8.14,192.168.8.20,192.168.8.30)

Now when i ping from the host machine i'm not able to ping the base machine and vice versa.

Can you help me out...

thank you.

Could you please show us full network information for the guests and host ( ip, subnet mask ) and firewall status/rules for the host ?

It won 't work if the VM's base network device is NATed. They are technically on their own subnet that way. Check the network settings on the VMs themselves, not the network settings in the OS but the settings of the VM that you access before booting the guest system.

Actually they can, the host has to have an interface on the same network to provide NAT services
