Unable to connect to internet,

I swapped hard drive from old system running Suse 9.0 but now unable to get internet connection.
ifconfig shows no inet addr for eth0.
dhcpcd -k --> dhcpcd : not running
ifup eth0 --> starting dhcp client daemon on eth0 .... no IP address yet .. backgrounding
