Unable to configure samba
I have a Red Hat 9 installation with samba version 2.2.7. I am trying to set up samba in order to share some files over the network. The server is running, but when I try to access the machine from a windows 2000 machine, it says "Network path was not found".
I have tried the similar configuration in another similar machine, it works fine there. Can someone please let me know how to set it up? |
network path not found sounds suspiciously like a firewall issue.

Thanks for the cue. I disabled the firewall. Now this machine is accessible over the network.
This machine is on the intranet, so is disabling the firewall any issue? I would appreciate your recommendation on this. We dont use this machine for any major applications. |
the best solution would be to configure the firewall to allow the network connection. you'll have to read up on your specific firewall for the configuration.
good luck. |
