Unable to configure samba

I have a Red Hat 9 installation with samba version 2.2.7. I am trying to set up samba in order to share some files over the network. The server is running, but when I try to access the machine from a windows 2000 machine, it says "Network path was not found".

I have tried the similar configuration in another similar machine, it works fine there.

Can someone please let me know how to set it up?

network path not found sounds suspiciously like a firewall issue.

Thanks for the cue. I disabled the firewall. Now this machine is accessible over the network.
This machine is on the intranet, so is disabling the firewall any issue? I would appreciate your recommendation on this. We dont use this machine for any major applications.

the best solution would be to configure the firewall to allow the network connection. you'll have to read up on your specific firewall for the configuration.
good luck.
