Unable to authenticate on Samba - Raspberry Pi

Hello

I have installed Samba on my raspberry pi and everything was working fine. I was able to get to the shared folders from a Windows laptop, WD media player and Panasonic home cinema system.

Recently my laptop crashed and i got a different laptop from a friend running Windows 7. Now when I try to map the shared folder, the authentication does not work. I had created another user on pi and Samba and tested it but still couldnt get it to work. Strangely the shared folders are accessible from the Media player and the home cinema.

I am a newbie on linux and have configured the pi using guides. I have googled for a solution but could not get anything to work.

Part of the config:
/etc/samba/smb.conf
[RASNAS]
comment = RASNAS Folder
path = /media/USBHDD1
valid users = @users
force group = users
create mask = 0660
directory mask = 0771
read only = no

I'd first check for some firewall/antivirus package blocking the connection at the W7 box. Some packages do that.

I have disabled the firewall, and uninstalled the anti-virus to test but no luck.
