I just acquired a Realtek 802.11n dongle with mini-CD containing RTL8188 CU and RTL8188 EU folders and am trying to get a R31 Thinkpad up on its feet with Linux Maya to break its web Ethernet cord. Despite tapping talent at:

Unlike the almost picnic Windows directions, the CD's Linux install guides are very techie and complex and are taking the steam out my desire to make things work. For example I downloaded and executed instructions from passion:

And so it stalls or crashes. I have no idea how to find much less repair the reported errors, yet I understand the Windows procedures are virtually a breeze.
Not laying blame anywhere but I don't understand why after all this time that these wifi dongles have been out that there aren't simpler step-by-step instructions for the Linux universe unless frustrated newbies are just dumping it and not reporting their troubles which is troubling as a whole.
Any tips would be much appreciated! Each problem solved is an education for me!
