Ubuntu workstation - mac network

Hey, everyone.

At the place I work we have mostly Macs, with a few Ubuntu boxes. We have a Mac Server, and the Macs are set up for directory access.

Is there any way that I could get these Ubuntu machines to log into the Apple Open Directory, like if it were joining a Windows domain? I know the Server supports Windows clients, so could I maybe fool the server into thinking I was logging in from a Windows box?

I need the authentication, but I would also like the User to sync the folders like "Desktop", "Documents", etc.

Thanks,
Chris

You need to install the samba client packages for your distro, then the client will be able to emulate a windows client for the purposes of authentication and sharing resources.

If it's an ubuntu box:
Code:
user@machine:~$ sudo apt-get install samba-client
should do the trick.

Re: Ubuntu workstation - mac network

Well, I have samba installed on almost all my systems for the purpose of file sharing. How do I configure it to be able to log into the domain?

Or am I just missing some more than obvious solution? cuz that's pretty likely...
