Ubuntu + SmartLink modem = me going mad

Ok, so this is the story....

I've installed Ubuntu 5.10 and I want to know if I can use my winmodem..., I allready run the "scanModem" app, and it says I have a "SmartLink" modem..., I downloaded all the files I need and installed them...(I think...)..

Now, when I run "wvdial" I get a "No DIAL TONE" message ...

How can I fix this???

Any suggestions???

Thanks in advance!!!
