Ubuntu 7.04 Linux Box as internet gateway

Hi Linux buds,

I have run into a dilemma. I am an avid Linux fan who uses Ubuntu 7.04. I still need to use WinXP for certain things. I use antivirus software, antimalware, and antispyware on my winxp box, but it seems the best ones require a yearly membership fee. You could end up spending $200/yr on all this extra stuff windows needs to keep your box safe.

I am quite curious after running into some sites which talk about using your linux box as a gateway to the internet. Will this eliminate the need for all the antivirus, anitmalware, and antispyware program for my winxp box?

What is the easiest most effective way to set this up? Any ideas?

Thanks,

trox

if you don't want to do this all manually in ubuntu you should have a look at Endian FW: http://www.endian.com/en/community/about/
