Ubuntu 6.06 - Vanishing Network Card!
Hi Everyone,
I have setup a Ubuntu Lamp server which has been chugging away fine for the past few days - however today i could not connect to it over the network. So i hooked it up to a monitor, keyboard and mouse and tried to work out what was going on. I went to the network manager (System > Administration > Networking) and looked for my network card - all i get is the loopback. ifconfig also gives me just the loopback - however when i type lscpi it detects my card (VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6102 [RHINE-II] (rev 43)). I am totaly clueless now on a) what has happened and b) how to fix it. Can someone work with me to get this backup and running? Many Thanks, JakReloaded |
Go into a consol as root and do;
/etc/init.d/networking restart Check the network again with ifconfig -a . Normally when this happens there is a problem with the actual hardware. |
