Ubuntu 5.10 internet connection problem
I am connecting to internet through cable connection, I am using also a router, I can connect to internet with Windows and Pardus(linux based OS), I start to use Ubuntu 5.10, and I can ping my internet providers address( but can't connect to any other page, what should I do for repairing the connection? Thanks.

Review Ubuntu/Kubuntu Starter guide for setting up internet connection. For my DSL modem connection pppoeconf and edit of /etc/network/interfaces is all I needed for connection. Cable modem/router may be a little different. The Ubuntu forum's starter guide is where to go. Good luck and enjoy your Ubuntu:)

I read the parts about the network and I try them, but still can't connect
I use sudo pppoeconf
and when I run the program it said I found 1 interface eth0 then I continue then it starts check conection and give warning not connected, it says Access Concentrator of your provider did not respond. check your cable etc, another reason for the scan failure may also be another running pppoe process which controls the modem, what should I do now?

dsl Ubuntu
Apart from telling you to compare Pardus dsl config with Ubuntu's I would say ask at Ubuntu forum and explain you have dsl modem and use router. In some contries that get dsl or cable from wall to modem/router they just enable dhcp and are connected without any other changes. Cheers.
