ubuntu 14.04 HP LaserJet 4100 ip address change

Hi

For several years I've accessed this printer with ip address 192.168.0.7
My router, PC, TV etc all had ip addresses 192.168.0.x

I have replaced my original NETGEAR router with a talktalk HUAWEI hg633 (moving up to fibre) ip 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 < I can't alter this it is greyed out on the router admin page.

Everything connected flawlessly except the Ethernet connected HP LaserJet priner. which I guess is static ip 192.168.0.7

I've tried "adding it" but it is not being recognised..

I really can't remember how I set it up in the first place about 6 yrs ago.

I've had a look at the printer configuration screen on the printer itself and nothing jumps out at me.

TIPS needed

If you do not have a manual you can find one online but you need to change the printers IP address to something in the new network range.
(192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.254) but outside the range of the routers DHCP server.

Thanks michaelk, I picked up the manual first thing this morning....... not much help really.

I did a test print at the printer and in the protocol information section it shows IP 192.168.0.1 sub 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.0.1 ( these are the old settings naturaly)

For the life of me I can't remember how I set everything up so many years ago. (old age I guess!)

I've managed to run cups (I remembered user and password happily )

I "THINK" I used cups to set the printer details but when I use it to find printers it finds nothing obviously..... but it DOES show the printer as it was originally set up.............. SURPRISINGLY NOW WITH AN IP ADDRESS NOW OF 192.168.1.7 ***

Well I got it working............ the difficulty lay in the printers really awkward and confusing built in setup menu, which the user manual skips over.

But I got there eventually.
