Ubuntu 12.04 with 2 network connections?

I'm installing Ubuntu 12.04 on my file/print server and the box I'm using has an onboard 10/100 ehternet connection and also a Trendnet wireless adapter. I was wondering if I could use both to connect to same router (or different routers even, since we have two) and setup the ethernet for file/print sharing only and the wireless connection for internet access only (for those times when I need to get online but the other machine is down or undergoing maintenance). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Why do you want to split it? I think it is not really impossible, but hard to implement. I can't see what is it good for?

For the most part, I would agree with you. But places with large networks implement this sort of thing and I think it'd be kewl if I could do it here (albeit with aging equipment). Besides, if I go back to college I'm planning on getting a degree in Information Technology. It's kind of a thing with me I'm a geek and I'm alwas trying to figure out things like that.
