two dhcp server....


hi

we have two dhcp server who run... something that cause some problem...
how to set one dhcp server master and the other one slave......

if the master is out... the slave work.... or something like that

any idea

you could setup a dhcpd failover mode for both
so that when one goes down the other works. But the problem becomes they both have to be running the same server like dhcpd.
take a look at the man page here http://www.bind9.net/dhcpd.conf.5 it has examples at the bottom on how to setup dhcp failover. And make sure you have the latest and same version of dhcpd on both machines as well.

You can configure the DHCP configuration file to perform failover. It will cause both servers to periodically check each other to see if it is running. try "man dhcp". The configuration should be in there somewhere. From that you can then configure the servers for failover.
