TUNNEL IPV4 over IPV6

Hello,
I'm an Italian programmer.
I need to build a ipv4-over-ipv6 tunnel, but I don't know how to do.
The configuration is the following:

[client1]--(ipv4)--[ROUTER1]----(ipv6)----[ROUTER2]--(ipv4)--[client2 ]

<............. how to ping between client1/2 ??? ............>

In this scheme Client 1 ping Router 1 via IPv4, Client 2 ping Router 2 via IPv4 and Router1 and Router2 communicates via IPv6 ONLY. But now I don't know how to establish a tunnel between Client1 and Client2 via Router1,2 (that is via IPv6)
Moreover, note that I must later recompile all the software for the two routers with the ppc_4xx-gcc compiler (The routers are two IBM Power NPe405 based platforms).
Whitch solutions I have to use?
Can you help me, please?

Thanks,
Michele
