tulip (linksys): New card won't work.

My card went bad, so I got a usb card I had. Same driver for both--tulip (linksys cards). The settings I had worked fine in the old one (when the card worked), but things are screwy with the new.
I can get local (192.*) but I can resolve global. Everything /should/ be set right, though. Can someone tell me what to check?
Both cards are wireless, one goes by ath1 and the other wlan1. Dunno what ath means.
Oh, and the little wireless signal strength monitor icon doesn't want to work. Thinks there's no signal.

EDIT: Sorry, I /can't/ get local. For some reason my old card was still on and being sporadic.
