Trying to make a scalable network with Mandrake 9.1 DNS and DHCP
I have a VERY small network, and I would like to make it scalable so it will be easy to add computers.
I come in from cable internet, into a Mandrake 9.1 (Soon to be 10.0) box, out to a 5 port hub which I use to connect my Windows XP computer to. I used the internet connection sharing applet in linuxconf in order to do this and it works fine. How ever I want to add compters and I don't want to use this method on the rest. I want to make my Network scalable by: Configuring DHCP for IP address allocation and having it update the A records and PTR records in a DNS server. That would make it easier to add computers and subnets later. I guess it wouldn't hurt to know how to set up a BOOTP packet forwarder too for later. Anyway if anyone can tell me where I can find that information I would be incredibly grateful Dev :newbie: |
