Trying to detect windows network with Kubuntu 9.04
 

I have a home network set up with windows 7 on my laptop. I want to be able to access the files I have made available on the network, with my desktop using Kubuntu. It is a fresh install, my first linux distro, and I don't know how to go about this. Can anybody help me?

Recently, I did the exact opposite - I made my Linux based computer (ubuntu/GNome) recognizable by my Windows XP network. For that, I installed the Samba package in the ubuntu system, and it works. I beleive you should do the same. It involves editing few parameters in the Samba config file smb.conf, but its not that complicated.
