trouble with wpc11 v4

I have a Linksys wpc11 v4 on an inspiron 4000 laptop. Ive been trying to follow resources on the web and cant get the card started.

to jump right in.

linux.oldcrank.com/tips/wpc11/
(i had to disguise this url to post it)

i followed the instruction on this page and didnt meet success, but that is the setup i have done.

When I trye pcmcia restart i get
yenta_socket resource busy
pcmcia_core resource busy

i dont think my system is recognizing my card.

i follow all the instructions on the network configuration section (adding the device, settings, etc) and when I try to activate the device linux says it cannot activate the device.

when I try to do something like
ifconfig wlan0

linux complains it doesnt know what I am talking about (error fetching interface info, not found...)

the only other information i can think of is that the oronoco (sp?) modules are loaded correctly when I do lsmod.

any help is appreciated. feel free to ask me for more specific info.

some more info:

im pretty sure the problem is in the fact that my linksys card is not recognized. like i said in previous post pcmcia-restart gives wierd messages. the more info is when I go to control center and look at pcmcia all it says is "hotplug device".
