When you mention 'AP', are you referring to a wireless connection?

You very well could have your network information set up correctly, but failed to add a DNS server in resolv.conf, which would mean you can't resolve domain names to IP addresses.

Open a terminal and type in 'ifconfig', and post the results here.

Also, type in 'cat /etc/resolv.conf' and 'route -n' and post those results here as well.

Try to ping your gateway address.
