I am running the lastest verson of proftp and I can login anonymous but I get a login failed when I try with username and password.

Here is my config file

Have you tried deleting the anonymous secton?

Yes I have tried it both ways. I am not sure what to do. The usernames are in the ftpusers list and all.

i have the same problem =(. the log at /var/log/proftpd.log tells me no such user when i tried a bad username, or incorrect password when i tried a bad password. However when i tried both the correct user name and password it just says (Login failed):user in /etc/ftpusers ???? shouldnt i put the usernames i want there???? i'm lost =(

You put the users you don't want ftp access in ftpusers file, so you have to delete your username to be able to use ftp.
