trouble loading content on some sites in Kubuntu 14.04

I have been having this issue since shortly after the AT&T Uverse was upgraded. I cannot see all the content on facebook (some images won't load, the page keeps loading, or doesn't load all the way) and Youtube is having similar results (videos slow to load, sometimes they won't load)
I am still thinking this is a DNS issue on this Linux box only, as I have other computers running Fedora and Windows and they have no problems. I have set the DNS to automatic (address only) and the addresses to the ones for Google DNS. This seems to fix it for awhile and then it acts up again, usually after a restart.

Any ideas?

I always install the latest updates, I check every few days. The connection is over ethernet.

should do
Quote:
apt-get dist-upgrade
to get 14.10 and then 15.04 that are currently availabe.
as a first try.

if you have concerns with that you can always test current versions with unetbootin.

I really try to stay with LTS versions, may try that as a last resort, but that's if it keeps my video drivers, that took forever to set up.
What are some other settings I should check?

any other ideas with this? really don't like having to use the windows machine all the time, and lots of people seem to have good luck with the LTS versions, so don't understand why I should move to a non LTS version.

Someone has to have had this problem or something similar.
