trouble creating user accounts
Hi,
I installed fedora core 2. At the end of the installation, while trying to create a user I messed up a bit, by selecting some check boxes saying authenticte using ldap, nis etc... After rebooting I am unable to login to my machine with that user id. But I was able to login as root. Now the problem is that, eventhough I deleted that user using userdel -r username, and created a new user using User Mananger, I am still not able to login as the new user. All my work needs to be carried out as root. Please tell me where is it going wrong. Thanks in advance.. K. Krishna Chaitanya |
Are you sure that you have the user's password correct?
Does the user have a shell or the ability to login? Try su-ing to the user; su <username>. See if you can login as the user that way. If the authentication options are really the issue, then if you run setup as root, you may see the authentication menu option and should be able to de-select the options you don't want. Lemme know how it turns out... |
hi DoubleOTeC,
Thank you very much for your suggestion.. It worked the problem really is with the authentication options. I used setup to rectify it. Thanks a lot.. K. Krishna Chaitanya |
