Trouble connecting to internet with FC6

Hello,

Thanks in advance for your help on this newbie question!

I have used the FC6 live CD and was able to easily connect to the internet through my home network. When I loaded FC6 onto my older Dell Dimension 4400 (same box I used FC6 live CD with), I found that I could not connect to the internet. If I am reading ifconfig's results correctly, the machine is getting an IP address (which I verified by checking my router's DHCP Lease list from another box). I've tried turning off iptables and rebooting the system but I can't seem to figure it out and I'm not even sure of a good trouble shooting approach. I've read some similar posts but they haven't been any help.

Would anyone be willing to help me out on this one?

Thanks!

ok can you...

ping the router?
- sounds like you should be able to no problem.

ping google.com?
- i guess no.

ping 72.14.207.99 (google's ip)?
- i guess yes.

if my predictions are right, you'd be looking at nameserver issues, listedin /etc/resolv.conf if they are there at all. normally your router would be providing a dns relay for you, so i'd expect to use the router as the nameserver. you could always add others through.

No pinging success

Unfortunately, I can't ping anything. My other boxes also can't ping my FC6 box.
