trojans and viruses


how to protect my local network from the trojans and viruses

i am using fedora core 5 and my local network is using windows 2000 and xp

Well I suggest using a firewall first. The Linux box shouldn't have any problems as long as it gets all of the security updates and is logged onto as a user and not root. The windows boxes will need antivirus software and probably antispyware software too.

Is the Fedora box running as a router for the rest of the network? In that case setup IP tables to protect the rest of the network.

There are alot of great sites out there on howto setup firewalls. If you look through your package manager on Fedora (search firewall) you'll probably come up with atleast two to choose from. I know nx5000's reply may look smartass, but its actually a really good idea. Use firefox, even on your XP machines. I do.
