Hi guys, I have a bit of a scenario that I'd like help with.
I am currently running a debian box as a router. With a pretty simple configuration
Internet --- Modem --- Linux Router --- Switch --- PC, Laptop, etc
The main reason I decided to do this was just for a challenge. I'm a first year networking student in university, so I fancied putting some stuff that I'd learnt into practice.
While the linux box acts as a firewall, I also have a couple of services running on it, including a web server, samba etc.
I also have torrentflux on it, downloading torrents and allowing them to be accessed through samba.
What I'd like to be able to do, is to have torrents downloading constantly on the server, but to give bandwidth priority to all external devices, so that the torrents would only download using "spare" bandwidth, or all of the bandwidth when no other device is using the internet.
I have had a read through
http://lartc.org/ and to be honest, it's a bit over my head at the moment, and I couldn't specifically find what I was after.
If anyone could spare some time to provide a "dumbed down" (but not too much, I'm not an idot haha) way of doing what I require, then it would be much appreciated.
Thanks a lot,
Josh
