traffic monitor ? help
Hey , guys
i am looking for a good traffic monitor tool for my network that is easy to use.
I have tried a tool names mrtg,it shows the traffic with in and out on interfaces with speed ,but it can just count the traffic for last 24 hours or 1 month or 1 year , even 24 hours is too long for me ,because the traffic that I make in my network lasts just 5 mins. therefore the results it shows on a 24 hour-scale so small because of only 5 mins on 24 hours. and I can not chage the scale smaller. I just need a traffic tool that can count the traffic in last 5 mins ,maybe 10 mins with realtime.but not 24 hours or 1 month.
Help me please!

we use it at work all the time, its a packet sniffer
what exactly are you looking to do?

thanks
hi, upstairs
thanks .what I excatly want to do is:
I just want to test my firewall with Traffic Control(HTB) . I want to know how well my skript works,so I need to know the real bandwidth for in and out on interfaces with graphic and text output, when I transfer Data from one to another, for instance download while uplink-(in and outrate).
Ethereal I have installed. It is good ,but not suits my status.By Ehereal we can get the IO GRAPH , but the result is the sum from in and out, I need each graph of the two.
please help!

Have you taken a look at routers2.cgi ? It's a frontend display tool for mrtg. What I really like is the "rescale" button for graphs that have low throughput on a 100MB link. Routers2.cgi does require a web server that is capable of running cgi scripts and you will have to convert mrtg to using rrdtool instead of generating graphs. FWIW: It was worth the time converting to rrdtool at my end.

You may be interested in the following tool. It's called EtherApe and provides a sort of "air traffic controller" view of your network in real time.
