toubleshooting ssh tunnel for coffee shop browsing

Goal: to be able to use the free wifi at coffee houses to do work in my web browser and to do this somewhat securely.

What I have done so far:
I setup a dynamic dns service to have a domain name for my dynamic IP address.
I have a ssh connection to my home router using the domain name.
I can connect using either putty or the ssh command in bash.
I can interact with my commandline router at home.
I installed foxyproxy for my firefox browser.
I configured foxyproxy to use my domain name and port.

Problem:
I still cannot view webpages when I tell firefox/foxyproxy to use the ssh connection?

Can anyone assist me in troubleshooting this?

Hi,

how are you creating the ssh connection? Are you using a socks/dynamic proxy like below?
Code:
ssh -fN -D localhost:9999 your.home.machine
If so, how are you telling firefox to use the proxy on port 9999 of localhost?
