too much dropped packets...Hi..

Hi .. I have a problem concering a network interface. The problem is that i can ping and transfer files using scp but if much traffic arrives all the packets get dropped. I haven't exceeded the interface bandwidth,,
Any suggestion?
Do u think i have used a fault module for the card.. or should i blame the cable?
Suggestion?

Check the duplex with mii-tool. Also, check the Tx and Rx errors in the ifconfig output. I *doubt* it's the cable, but it could be. More likely it's the NIC or a resource conflict. If you can, check the cable (patch cables are cheap). If that doesn't pan out, try moving the NIC to a different slot.

If it's an onboard NIC, many of those are garbage. ;)

Thx... No the cable is just fine.. I have checked the cable and i have also used some other that work fine.
Another problem is that all the packets force the kernel to use 100% cpu power and make the system interactiveness too slow
