Tip for those of you with Linux +Samba + Win2K trouble

Check that firewall ! I was pulling my hair out trying to get Samba working, when it was working fine all the time. I could see my Linux machine in windows network neighborhood, but when i selected it or tried to use 'net view', i jsut got "network path not found". Then someone mentioned looking at the firewall.

If you have RedHat, take a look at how to use the firewall config tool, otherwise its the ipchains that hold your firewall info. Make a rule that allows specific IP's within your local network to access (via TCP) your linux machine.

One I did that, my shares magically appeared ! I can now share files with my Linux machine. WOO HOO !
