does the file name or directory name contain non-english carachters?
if it is so try configure charset in smb.conf
u can use swat to configure samba. there are like that options in advanced menu of swat.

good luck

"Can't Change Directory "

Hi , Everybody

I want to access the files from linux to windows ...... I shared the file from linux using samba server... and i am able to see the files which i shared but not able to map a network drive from win to that shared file.... whenever i am trying to map a network drive it gives me error like

"network path not found" why it was happened.....

then i checked the log file from redhat 9 system actually what happened

When i check the winsystem's log file(systemname .log) from Linux(redhat 9) it shows me error message like..

"sysname xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx can't change directory to /root/ zameer/file (permission denied) "

where

(win's systemname)sysname followed by (IPADRESS OF windows system )xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (followed by this message )can't change directory to /root/foldername (which is shared ) permission denied

I am really appreciate if anybody could help me to solve this problem

Thanking You ,

zameer_india, I just e-mailed you the URL of your other thread 15 minutes ago, and now you started a brand new thread. Surely you knew where to find the original thread... Please do not start new threads for the same question that you already have an open thread for.
