Thin Client speed is to slow why?

I have currently set up 5 thin clients which connect to the redhat linux server, the server has 512 mb ram and each client has 128 ram, i am a little disapointed in the speed or i hsould say the response time on the client side as when i click on a menu it takes a good 5-9 secs to respond back, far to slow . Can any tellme why that may be , i assumend that when people are on the thin client computer it should perorm as if liek the server. Does the screen resolution have anything to do with it.

What thin-client, VNC, SSH, something else?

Cut down on graphics for a start. Thin clients transmit screen, keyboard and optionally, mouse and audio data across your network, so hi-res graphics as background images should not be used. Also, if possible, turn off audio. You should remember that all clients accessing the server are sharing the servers load capability and resources, so a thin-client server should be much more powerful than a file-server for example.

You need to be more specific to get more specific help.

how pwerful does the server have to be?

I am wondering how powerful does the server have to be to run about 5-10 thin client machines, currently my server is 512 mb of ram ddr, 100 gigabyte hard drive and running the newest sempron cpu by AMD i believe the speed is 2400. My thin clients have no hard drive but there system is 2400 amd sempron as well at 128mb ram

What is the system or "package" you are using to set up thin clients?

I've heard good things about:

http://k12ltsp.org/contents.html

It shouldn't be any more complex than the package you are using. They all are usually about the same complexity.

This is a full distrobution to do thin cleints:

More information:

There are lots of thin client resources out on google, but these see to be some of the "top" ones.
