testing iptables performance testing
 

Hi guys,

we have firewall which is based on LINUX itself. I want to test the performance of firewall.
Regarding the functionality i used nmap,hping2 and ftester.
But for performance...
Is there any standard procedure to test the performance of a firewall or is there any tool to test the firewall performance.

What are the metrics that should be noted down.
FYI, i have given the rules that are already there on our gateway.

Could you just run throughput tests with the firewall on and off to see how well it is performing in real world situations? There are many throughput tests on the Internet.
