testing bind installation

Hey guys, I just got bind installed and I think it's running correctly, but I need to test it before I replace our other server. I don't want to cause an interruption in service to my users.

Is there a way to use dig or something to test that it is working correctly.

I appreciate any help. Hopefully this is an easy one for some of you.

:-)

Yes. You can use dig to ask a specific DNS server about a domain/host. The command syntax is:
dig @server host
Example: dig @192.168.1.1 linuxquestions.org
