Terrible samba performance (acting as a client)
Hi,
I have a strange problem with my computer. It has samba 3.02 installed and running on slackware. WinXP clients can transfer data from/to it at full speed of 100MBit network but when I mount a share on a windows machine and download something to my linux box, it never goes faster than 400 kB/s. If i initiated copying of the same file from the windows machine it would go at 7 MB/s. Any ideas what the problem could be? Any suggestions appreciated. Muah |
Same thing here. 400 transfer rate was my best scenario. A lot of the times I get less. I also asked this question before on the samba mailing lists and never got an answer. Hope somebody has a clue.

Thanks for the answer though :]

no problem here
using the same configuration (slackware + samba 3.02 + full duplex networking) I get a normal speed, like 3-4 mb, identical with what I have in Windows
