Question telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused

Hello everyone.
I have a Redhat Linux 9 server. I have installed sendmail on it, everything works fine on it, I can receive and send email on the machine........ but when I try to check my emails from my other client machine I get PORT 143 error IMAP.

I tried to issue this command from my other machine on the network
telnet IPADDRESS 143 and it returned an error
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused

Am I missing something, please help
thanks
batham
