Hi All,

Rather than starting the service telnet start the service of xinetd which will in turn start all services inside xinet.
Hope this will help.
Thnx

make sure "disabled = no" in /etc/xinetd.d/telnet
then (re)start xinetd.

Huh? Do you possibly mean redhat-9.0? If so, the redhat preferred method of adding a service to xinetd is:

chkconfig telnetd on/off

See: man chkconfig

The chkconfig command should issue a -HUP to xinetd process to reload the config files. Check /var/log/messages after you run chkconfig to verify.

NOTE: I believe you need to install the telnet daemon RPM before the above will work. Unfortunately, I don't remember which RPM the telnet daemon is a part of. I haven't used the telnet daemon since the dawn of dirt (ssh)

Telnet service problem

yes Ur,

The services of sevices,servers,rlogin,telnet,talk,echo & sgi_fam dependent
on Xinetd which is wrong configured or not installed,

when i select any above services the start, stop & refresh are disabled
i.e. may not installed properly.

pl give me brief note to install or to check all config files

Thank U in adavance.

yaar telnet net is not present in redhat 9 why don't you use ssh.
if you want to use telnet then first download its rpm then install it and then it will work sanjay.
