Question TCP/IP Offload

Has anyone used an Intelligent NIC with TCP/IP Offload? I know of one implementation by Wind River called "Tornado for Intelligent Network Acceleration (TINA), and have heard of an Intel research effort which successfully offloaded the entire TCP/IP stack onto an iNIC which significantly expanded network capacity of the server independently of the CPU's performance.

My question is whether the use of an iNIC to offload TCP/IP for one network affects the motherboard TCP/IP stack used for onboard Ethernet ports to access a separate network?

Also, is anyone aware of additional efforts to provide this capability other than the ones I mentioned above?

Thanks.
