TCP/IP error

Hi everyone,

I have a kind of internet connection problem..
When I try to connect to the LAN in the campus at the college from WindowsXP, it gives an TCP/IP error.. but I can connect from Linux.

A few days ago, I have uninstalled ZoneAlarm labs, and i suspect that it has left the system inconsistent. But do not know what to do actually.. I have checked my IP number and gateways, they were not changed in fact, and I am stuck now, having no clue about what the problem could be!

Perhaps it is a good reason to go on with Linux, but I still need Windows sometimes,

So any help will be appreciated,
Thanks in advance.

Did you try releasing and renewing your xp ethernet address (it is DHCP, right)?

from the windows command line type ipconfig /release and then try ipconfig /renew. Then just type ipconfig to see if you get a new address. If so, you should be connected. If not, Hmmmmmmm.....

well, i think i do not use DHCP, i am connecting with a static IP, i mean i enter it manually.

hi,when you connect from Linux do you use the same ip address and gateway ?? Sounds stupit but try and disable then enable your network card, for some reason I have to do it to mine somedays before it reconizes my ip..
