system hanging on booting

i was having a problem with my megaraid scsi controller raid card. i upgraded my system to kernel 2.4.18-27.8.0smp. when i try to boot into the operating system the system hangs on the following:

scsi2 : Found a MegRAID controller at 0xf8873000, IRQ: 23
scsi2 : Enabling 64 bit support

the system hangs right there. does anybody know why it would hang there? and if so what do i need to do to get past this point?

thanks for any help

actually the loading starts like this:

Loading megaraid module
megaraid: v1.18d (Release Date : Wed Aug 7 18:51:51 EDT 2002)
megariad : found 0x101e:0x1960:idx 0:bus 4:slot 1:func 0
scsi2 : Found a MegaRAID controller at 0xf8873000, IRQ: 23
scsi2 : Enabling 64 bit support

this is where it hangs
