Symlinking and Samba, following symlinks to local root rather that servers!

Basically i'm trying to abstract multiple harddiscs using symlinks into ppls home directories

ie ln -s /mnt/sharedhd /home/me/shared
then when mounting on a client see the shared symlink as a normal folder

now i believe i should just be able to use the Follow Symlink / Follow Link commands in the smb.conf, however it is following the symlink but client machine sees it as a reference to /mnt/sharedhd on its local root rather that abstracted from the servers root.

help!!!! i had this working before i formated and lost my smb.conf!!!!

thx
