SWAT "Authorization failed"

Hello!
I am using Linux Mandrake 10.0 Official.
I have installed Samba Server and it is works fine. I have no problem to read or write files to the Samba server.
I also have installed SWAT service. Before it worked fine. I setup everything with its help, but right now, when I am trying to start SWAT it asks me for my login and password, after it shows me "Authorization failed" and "401 Bad Authorization user password or login incorrect"... I am pretty sure that the password and login I type is correct (root login)!
Anybody knows the solution for that?
Thank you!

The same thing happened to me except I never even managed to log in. I have been locked out from the start.

I am a Mandrake 10.0 user for just over two hours and I am pissed.

Viva, I am very new to Linux, but am using MDK 10 as well & think I can help. If I understand your problem, you need to confirm/change your root password. You can change your root password in Applications/System/Configuration/Configure Your Computer in the system section under users & groups. Remove the check beside "filter system users" and edit "root". You can change the password there so as to be sure you have the same password in Samba as well. Hope that helps.

No, it will not work....

I think I have some problem with password encrypt. I tried "encrypt passwords" directive, but I still have no results.

I haven't experienced that with mine ... yet. The main problem I had getting SWAT to work for me was that I tried to access it through my account rather than as root. Now if I can just set up a simple peer to peer network with the other Windows computers on my home network! Sorry, I guess I can't help. Good luck!

I managed to set up Samba in the end.

I just did everything in the old fashioned way (smbpasswd etc.)

I never did manage to log into swat.
