Unhappy SuSE won't surf

Here's my setup...

----------------------
| Win PC 192.168.1.3 |
----------------------
|
| <-- Eth cable to external modem
|
|
----------------------------------------
| External Dialup Modem with 2 eth ports | ------------> Internet
----------------------------------------
|
|
| <-- Eth cable to external modem
|
-----------------------
| SuSE PC 192.168.1.2 |
-----------------------

Here's my problem...

The Win box can get to the internet fine.

The SuSE box can;
ping it's own ip 192.168.1.2
ping it's gateway ip 192.168.1.1
ping the win box 192.168.1.3

The SuSE box can NOT;
surf
or even ping a public IP
(ie my ISP's DNS server )
No, the DNS server doesn't block ICMP. It is pingable if you have a working connection.

Does the modem act as a DHCP server as well? Try typing dhclient eth0 as root and see if you get anything.

maybe you have a firewall configured to block everything, or the route info is incorrect

useful commands

ifconfig

route -n
