Suse 9 and LNE100tx

Hi,

Im using a LNE100TX (which SuSE detects as Version 2) an SMC wireless router and SuSE 9 Pro. When it boots, it says DHCP - Ip Address not yet avaialbe.....backgrouding..

when i get into Linux - the only way to get online is to

1) Remove the NETWORK CARD from YAST MODULES
2) Add the NETWORK CARD into YAST MODULES

lol.. i know this is crazy to do on every single boot - but can someone please give me some help...

thanks in advance...

After you boot up, what does
/sbin/ifconfig
show?

RO

Note: As root,
ifdown eth0
then
ifup eth0
will restart DHCP for you, you won't have to remove/re-add the NIC.

have you set the router to be a DHCP server?

Does your NIC get a connection without going through the router?

Are you running a DHCP server module in SuSE?

My router has been set as a DHCP server.

What do you mean "nic gets connection without going throug the router" ?

How do i find out if i'm running a DHCP server module??

Thanks again

Have you tried plugging you Ethernet cable directly into the modem? And if so can you connect to the Internet?
