SuSE 9.3 - wierdness with Gaim/SSH - NAT problem ?

Hi all,

I'm playing with Suse 9.3 and mostly it's gone great. BUT I tried to connect to a net site through SSH earlier and it hung for about 5 minutes then died. I set debug on and it reported the remote site's ip as 1.0.0.0

Next, I tried IRC - plugged in a server name and it seems the IRC client was trying to connect to 1.0.0.0

By now I'm scratching my head - everything else seems fine (except for GAIm and KoPete and I'm assuming it's linked to the same problem.

So, my router is a D-Link DSL-G604T with NAT built-in. I'm hopeless when it comes to networking but part of my brain tells me it might be something to do the NAT setup - am I a million miles off in my assumption and if so could someone tell me how to sort it before I shatter this machine into 10000 pieces and go back to windows ??

Cheers

Rags
