SuSE 9.3 strange network connectivity - no internet
Hi Guys,
after upgrading from SuSE 9.2 to 9.3 via clean install my SuSE doesnīt find my network anymore... I am using a router and everything is configured over DHCP. The weird issue is: I also got an external usb harddisk which is connected via a PCMCIA adapter... it i switch on the external hd, browse on it (i.e. search files open orders etc) and I have network (and internet) access... I switch the harddisk of and also got no network... I have absolutely no idea why it is that strange... but maybe some geeks out there might know the connection... Because this problem seems to be very strange I decided not to post much information so far -- I simply donīt know where to start. So please tell me any information you need and I will post it in this thread as soon as possible... Best wishes, Lars Startup protocol (regarding network devices). Hi,
that is indeed a strange problem. maybe there are som shared interrupts or some kind? check: cat /prog/interrupts Code:
JustinuX:/proc# cat interrupts Quote:
cat ioports cat misc and other stuff in /proc maybe you can find some strange things here.... does your /var/log/messages say something? -cheers- |

Thanks for the help so far! Lars |
jups, ithinks it is irq 10 what's the problem.
how to solve? no idea i have to look after that one... maybe someone else an idea (if this really is the problem?) |
Thanks a lot! In the meanwhile Iīve solved the problem... unfortunately buy moving to Mandrake 10.1 (now Internet and mounting of external harddisks is no problem anymore... )
Again thank you, and everyone else, who made up their mind. Lars |
no problemo :)
