OK, well first off we would need to know what you mean by "See" if you can reach the net then you are clearly on the LAN, which would for me class as "seeing" i.e. you can ping. many people mean they can't see all that network share rubbish, in which case you would need to go deeper into what you've done to make that work, and wether this is a one way thing, i.e. can you see other machines or can't they see you? if they can't see you only, then that'll be your samba configuration on the machine... maybe samba isn't even running. if you can't see out... what app are you using? konqueror and nautilus both handle SMB browser in a very similar way to windows... can you reach "smb://a.b.c.d" to any other machine from linux?
