Question Suse 9. 1 and Windows Network

Hi everyone!

I am a newbie to Linux and started out on Suse Linux 9.0 and just upgraded to 9.1 (fresh install). When I first install 9, I was able to see and access all the shared files on my other, Windows, machines. However, after a week or so, I couldn't see the network. I never actually had to use the network in Linux and my Internet connection still worked so I never tried to figure out the problem. However, when I rinstalled, the function was restored for just a few days. I would like to figure out why this is occurring. From when I installed 9.1 to when it stopped working, I was careful not to change any network settings. I have now played around with ssome of the settings in the YaST Network Settings. Can anyone tell me why this isn't working? All the other computers are running XP (except my Linux machine ;-)

Well I go through the Network Browsing icon to open a Konqueror window and then select Windows Network and the Loacation is "smb:/" and the error I get is "Unable to find any workgroups in your local network"

btw, Where is the Transfers menu?

Are you sure I don't have to change some sort of settings in Yast or the KDE Control Panel? The Konqueror link on the desktop worked fine for 2 days so I don't know why this happens.

Even if I don't need to change anything in YaST, I still can't see the network. I don;'t see that program anywhere on my system so you will have to explain where I an find it in Konqueor or on the Internet

smb4k installed...

Hi again.

Thanks for posting a link to the rpm. I dled the rpm and installed it in YaST with no problems. It didn't appear in the menu so I searched and found it the program and ran it. It scanned and I can't get it to see any shares. I have my Windows XP Laptop running and on the network so smb4k should be able to see the shares on there. Are there any settings I should change? I kind of played with some of the settings but it still scans and doesn't find anything.
