SuSE 9.0 member of MS Domain?
 

Hi

I´m trying to get my SuSE 9.0 Prof. work station to connect to a Windows Domain, wich uses Active Directory for user-control.

I´m able to ping the DomainControler with both ip-adress and server-name but when I try to connect the SMB-client I get an error that I can´´t find the domain controller.

My guess is that I have some problem with my ldap-configuration, but now I have run out of ideas...

I try to use Keberos and ldap for authentication and then use the SMB-client to access the network.

Am I totally out of it here?

I have tried to find information about setting up things witn yast2 but I haven´t been able to find anything, does anyone know about any how-to:s?

Any ideas to how to solve my problem will be much valued...


It would be nice to use the yast2 tool for setting things up.

i'm in the process of doing the same thing. problem is i don't have the machine right next to me so i'll have to respond later with how my settings are configured.

but, i do have the machine acting like a member of the domain and i can access objects on the domain. and when time to log onto the machine it pulls a list of domain accounts and displays those as available to log into the machine. i run into a problem when i log in. it seems to authenticate me but i get an "xsession" error. so, i'm not sure if something is restricting the home directory, etc. from being created. i'm looking into that now.

anyways, look for an update from me soon with how i used yast2 to get this far.
