SuSE 8.2 Pro & Comcast Cable

I am fairly new to linux, only using SuSE and for a pretty short period of time. I really need help setting up My comcast high speed internet using SuSe 8.2 Pro. When configuring the network devices it finds my ethernet card and gives a brief description of the card. I then check dhcp, I have contacted comcast and they specify that no host name should be specified. I then press next and it configures. But nothing no internet nothing. I have tried using the USB feature of the modem. SuSE finds the modem but configures it as a dial up account.
Please if anyone has any suggestions it would be great!

You know when it comes to USB modem I hate them even in M$ crap. They have tedancy to to be quirky at best. Frankly with a USB cable modem you are restriced to the number of computers theoretically you could connect to a router. A sugggestion that might help is get antoher modem so you can take advantage of using a router- this will work like a charm in Linux. So long as you register your modem with them they could care less about how you set it up in your home.
My guess is that you purchase one used for about $40 -50 new $100 maybe.

Good Luck,
