Suse 8.1 and PCI Modem

I wanna get my PCI modem working on my Suse 8.1 .
The modem is a Zoltrix Cobra, a HSF Conexant.
I've already installed KPPP and the modem driver rpm.
On KPPP configuration I got the modem ready set it up like /dev/ttyS0, software and CR/LF respectively.
Quering the modem it seems right in this way.
The problem is the initialization:
KPPP tells me the modem is ready but it can't finish even the initialization procedure.
I've already included ATX3 to avoid NO DIALTONE error, the problem is different: the initialization can't finish because the OK message never shows up I think.
How can I fix it?
See ya, Zaltar.
